LHM: Dr. Neufeld, you’ve created such a unique practice here at Healthy Cubs Pediatrics. What inspired you to start your own clinic?
Dr. Hilary Neufeld: Thank you! I started Healthy Cubs because I wanted to go back to a time when your doctor truly knew you, your children, and your whole family. My goal was to create a space where parents feel confident that their children are receiving specialized, personalized, and holistic care. I missed the kind of relationship where the doctor is aware of everything happening with your child’s health, so I wanted to bring that back.

Dr. Neufeld: One way we do that is by making sure parents can always reach me directly. I personally take every after-hours call, and we’ve set up a messaging service so parents can reach out 24/7. Whether it’s a minor concern or something more urgent, I want parents to feel supported and never alone. It’s all about providing peace of mind.
LHM: That’s incredible. It’s not common for doctors to be that accessible. What kind of feedback have you received from families?
Dr. Neufeld: The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. Families appreciate that they can get answers quickly and directly from me, especially during stressful moments. Parents often tell me that it feels like they’re part of a family here—that’s exactly what I was aiming for. One parent shared that they love how their concerns are always heard, and another said their child actually looks forward to coming in because of the warm environment we’ve created.

Dr. Neufeld: We’ve designed Healthy Cubs to be a place where families feel at home. From the moment you walk in, it’s all about comfort. We don’t rush through appointments; I take the time to listen and truly understand each child’s needs. We also offer same-day or next-day appointments, and we’re open one Saturday a month to accommodate busy schedules.
